Picking the Right Electric Vehicle for You
- Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) use both electric motors and internal combustion engines, they are not considered pure or an all-electric vehicle.
- Plug-in hybrid vehicles (also known as plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and PHEV) are similar to HEV in that these vehicles utilize a combination of electric motors and internal combustion engines. The main difference is PHEVs required to be plugged in to charge.
- Battery electric vehicles (BEV) are pure electric vehicles. They exclusively use stored and rechargeable battery packs. These vehicles do not use a secondary source of propulsion... BEVs do not have an internal combustion engine.
